That's not really the name that my neice will eventually be given, but it's what we call her in utero....and speaking of in utero, Mildred is the product of much prayer and faith. She's set to make her debut sometime in March and when we finally lay eyes on her, we'll all be reminded what a miracle she is...we'll remember all the ways God revealed himself to our family through the journey to get her here! Jessica, I'm blessed that you're my friend and sister. Blaine...get some jeans before Thursday. :)

We're officially trying to get back in some kind of routine. We'll be catching up on emails over the course of this week. If you missed your scheduled time to pick up soccer pictures, we'll be calling soon to make arrangements for you to get them. If you placed an order for prints anytime after the 5th of December, you should have them by the 20th of January. We literally shut everything down after we wrapped up the 12 Days of Christmas promo so that we could enjoy the holidays with our families. We will be getting everything reorganized this week and will have lots of exciting news and updates. Check back later in the week. :)

Awake enough to post a couple of pictures and entertain children who are tickled to pieces not to have homework for the next three weeks. For those who haven't been keeping up with the latest at the bakery, the girls of evy & grace are going under cover...literally. We're through with Christmas sessions, through with deliveries (almost) and ready to catch up on rest.

If you are expecting a package, the contents of which includes precious gift items for Christmas, you can rest, too...everything is on target to arrive and be delivered before Christmas. If you send email or call and don't get a timely response, we'll follow up as soon as we awaken from our under-cover work...we mean sleep! :)

I Have Three Children to Love...

so why do I always photograph this one? Perhaps because she understands that the camera is an extension of my arm. Perhaps because she grew up thinking that camera equals pose. At any rate, she's the most cooperative one I have when it comes to practicing new skills and trying out new props...so you just have to look at her again! I promise to try wrangling the other two and getting some holiday snapshots soon.

Just getting around to taking a look at these shots taken earlier in December. This is wintertime in Florida...sunny afternoons spent playing in the sprinkler and collecting ladybugs. Maybe the fact that it's 80 degrees outside, combined with the mad rush of Christmas sessions that just passed, has me wanting to skip right to Valentine's Day! Or maybe it's the fact that I haven't even begun to do my holiday shopping? At any rate, thought you all might need another smile at Evy's expense.

Valentine's Day is right around the corner and we'll be available for a limited number of exclusive, sweet-themed sessions for little ones. The experience will consist of cookie decorating, card-making, and picture taking. A One Horse Open WHAT?

My little one posed yesterday for some "Feliz Navidad" photos just for fun. She was humming Jingle Bells and strumming the mandolin while hamming it up for the camera. I wasn't paying much attention to what she was singing, but rather trying out new settings on the beast in my hands called a new camera!

This afternoon, her teacher asked me to have her sing the song again for me...apparently they've been singing Jingle Bells in pre-school. Mrs. Gwen, I'm not quite sure what it is she's saying after one-horse-open....but it's not sleigh. Actually the words one, horse, and open aren't even in her version. :)

It always cracks me up how children snurble through lyrics they don't know! I leave you with Evy's rendition of an old holiday favorite. Have a laugh on Ev.

Boy do we have it!!!

1. Our new site is finally live! Work that started in late September has finally come to fruition...well...almost. We'll be working out glitches over the next few weeks, customizing things a bit, and making some changes and additions to the site. But for now...you can enjoy bigger images, cooler music, individualized proofing galleries, a calendar, a shopping cart, and frequent updates.

2. We are wrapping up the 2007 year...no pun intended. The last of the pretty, ribbon-adorned portrait packages are being delivered this week. Thanks so much for your patience during this busy holiday season!

3. We are no longer booking appointments between now and January 21st. If you are in need of our services in the early part of 2008, contact us right away so we can reserve a spot for you. Don't worry, people...we'll still be sharing images here! We will finally have a chance to photograph our own families and friends during this festive time...keep posted by visiting us often over the next few weeks. (OH...and we do still have a couple of sessions left in 2007!)

4. Due to higher demand and upgraded camera equipment and props, we will be unveiling a new pricing structure in the coming year. Minimum investment (including session fee) will start at $225. Packages start at $500 and offer the utmost flexibility. Print prices will start at $15. Basic session fees will start at $125. Anyone who books between now and the new year will fall under the new fee and price structure. If you have already scheduled an appointment in 2008, we will honor our previous pricing.

5. We have an official space to call home! Our new studio is located on Highway 20 in Blountstown. Stay tuned for details about our open house...sometime in early 2008.

6. If you attempt to reach Hilary in the coming weeks and she doesn't relpy in a timely fashion...fear not. Hilary and her patient, devoted husband will be cruising to The Bahamas before Christmas. Bon Voyage!

I always love elaborate locations and backdrops, but pictures are never better than when I have good-looking people to photograph! This session had both...a beautiful plot of land and beautiful subjects! I'm told the property is owned by a German prince, but I was most impressed with the two little princes and princesses I got to work with...and their parents! :)

I have two things to share with you:

1. More 3-month-old sweetness...I can't quit looking at the pictures from last Thursday's session. This little one is adorable beyond words...I could eat her up! By the way...you really must view these images up close...they are so much better full sized!

2. Looking at all these baby pictures has me realizing that I need some more maternity and newborn pictures for my online portfolio. SO...the first expectant mom to contact me (must be no more than 6 months pregnant) gets a free maternity session and 50% off a newborn session held within the first 10 days of life! Sharing pictures from a barnyard-themed portrait session yesterday. I just loved her dress...so bright and cheery. And what a big girl she is...these pictures are to commemorate her next birthday! OH...why can't we have the scenery here that exsists in Wainscott? The only thing missing from our trip to East Hampton this time was my children...to stick in this gorgeous field of flowers and photograph. I did get to spend plenty of time with my sisters, however, and I'm excited to announce that they will be working with me in the coming months as I expand my photography business. This has to be one of the most pleasant children I've ever had the pleasure to work with! It was extremely hot and humid and he never once let on that the heat was getting to him. Mom and I were drenched before the shoot was over...but all the sweat paid off. We were able to get some great images of this little sweetheart.

Back from The Lake!

We went, we rode, we skiied, we rode, we fought, we jumped, we whined, we rode some more, we argued, we came home. We're back from a long week of fun at the lake...kids are glad to have more personal space than they had in dad's truck, mom is glad to have her hearing back after listening to "yap, yap, yap" for many long hours in dad's truck, and dad is delighted that in spite of a blown out tire on the boat trailor, his precious boat and accompanying skiis, ropes, anchors, etc. all made it back to Florida in tact...mostly.

In case you're wondering why I haven't answered your email as quickly as usual...it's because my family and I are enjoying a week at the lake from Friday, July 27th until Sunday, August 5th. We'll have limited internet access so don't be alarmed if you don't hear from me until I return. But speaking of tracks, look how adorable this group of cousins look playing on the railroad tracks!

These shots are from a session I did with a local gospel group. They plan to use some of the shots from the session for promotional purposes. My sweet hubby is the good-looking one...in the light khaki suit...last photo. :) We found this terrific old building that had it all...graffiti, yellow-framed mortar, burnt bricks, stucco, cool steps! I'm dying to go back there and get some teen portraits...this place is the perfect urban photography location!

In an attempt to keep my sanity this summer, I've allowed my children to swim WAY too much...or is there such a thing when you live in Florida? Anyway...I digress. You can see in the above photos that they have morphed into weird, aquamarine creatures due to the countless hours spent below the surface.

Brothers and Friends

What is it about boys that make them so endearing? Is it the way they find joy in something as simple as a stick or a stone? Is it the jeans with worn out knees and the endless supply of energy that just spills out of them?

I've had the pleasure of working with quite a few little guys over the past few months and I have to say that I'm always amazed at how they can be so different yet so alike! While some are serious and some are total cut-ups, they all gravitate toward bugs and dirt. And even though some are quiet and some are loud and spunky, they all respond the same way when they hear an airplane or motorcycle.

These brothers were not exactly thrilled that mom had pulled them away from the pool to take pictures, and I can't say that I blame them! It was a scorcher...in the high 90's. After a couple of minutes, though, they decided that being in front of the camera wasn't so bad after all. Thought I'd share a couple of my favorite shots from the session.

Cousins

This group of cousins was so much fun to work with! Considering that our session took place in 98 degree weather with high, high humidity and absolutely no breeze, they were total troopers. The first shot is one of the first we took during our time together...you can see in the second shot that the kids were quite overheated and ready for some AC and H20. And water they got! Thanks Tammy and crew for a fun, fun time! Your kids are beautiful.
